After having played for 12 minutes, Alberto Munhoz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cajueiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Munhoz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rony Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guga Garcia came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Cajueiro's Vitinho Secco. But to his dismay, Vitinho Secco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Munhoz in the 22nd minute of play forced Guaçuano's goalkeeper Guga Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Guaçuano's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Munhoz came free, but Guga Garcia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osvaldo Silva took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Guga Garcia. Guga Garcia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 36th minute Mané Santana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mané Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guaçuano's Guga Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitinho Secco in the 40th minute of play. Guga Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Munhoz in the 45th minute of play. Vitinho Secco scored 1-4 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Guga Garcia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mané Santana was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Guaçuano's goalkeeper Guga Garcia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vitinho Secco. Guaçuano's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alberto Munhoz 60 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-5. After 63 played minutes Cajueiro got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Bastos. Rony Quintal struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Mané Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaçuano. After 67 minutes of play, Guaçuano's Pedro Paulo Chaves made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mané Queirós was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd minute of the match Edgar Soares sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mané Queirós skillfully saved the ball. Mané Santana took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mané Queirós. Mané Queirós dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-5. When Edgar Soares fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guaçuano's protests and gave Edgar Soares a yellow card for diving instead. Edgar Soares hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Cajueiro's Guga Garcia threw himself towards the right post 84 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberto Munhoz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 88 played minutes Cajueiro got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Silva. When Mané Santana came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Guaçuano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mané Santana couldn't finish the play. Rony Quintal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Guaçuano's Guga Garcia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Guaçuano from getting a goal against them. When the match was over Cajueiro could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Guaçuano throughout the match.
