The supporters of Gaujiru AD booed when PINGUIM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu de Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademir de Lara in the 6th minute of play. Oswaldo Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir de Lara in the 7th minute of the match. Eriberto Guedes charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eriberto Guedes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eriberto Guedes hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Ian de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaujiru AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Ian de Alcântara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oswaldo Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cássio Paraense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinei Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dinei Sanches received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Cássio Paraense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in PINGUIM's zone, Ian de Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oswaldo Vargas came out of the goal and Ian de Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cássio Paraense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdir Pitta in the 36th minute. Cássio Paraense made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Valdir Pitta sent off a good shot on target. Oswaldo Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian de Alcântara in the 40th minute of the match. During the 41st minute of the match Eriberto Guedes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Eriberto Guedes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ian de Alcântara to strike the kick off in the second half. When Nilson Nunes fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gaujiru AD's protests and gave Nilson Nunes a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes Gaujiru AD got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Nunes. In the 55th minute of the match Gilmar Trigo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cássio Paraense skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Pitta in the 64th minute of play forced Gaujiru AD's goalkeeper Cássio Paraense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd match minute, PINGUIM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomás Paraense to maneuver through the defense. Ian de Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Oswaldo Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ademir de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Vargas having to interfere. After having played for 77 minutes, Ian de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gaujiru AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian de Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ian de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Vargas having to interfere. If Cesinha Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaujiru AD's Nilson Nunes got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute Valdir Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Paraense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
