The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

A sloppy throw-in by Luiz Paulo Passos in the 55th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by São Paulo's Adalberto Costa. After a defensive mix-up in Gravier FC's zone, Herminio Txordon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mathias Alcântara came out of the goal and Herminio Txordon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Cesinha Silveira fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gravier FC's protests and gave Cesinha Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 78th match minute, Gravier FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesinha Silveira to maneuver through the defense.
