An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Vale in the 5th minute of play forced Canaiba's goalkeeper Jardel Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jardel Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Vale in the 7th minute of play. Rafael Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When João Paulo Madureira fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canaiba's protests and gave João Paulo Madureira a yellow card for diving instead. Canaiba's Jardel Santana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Canaiba from getting a goal against them. Rafael Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jardel Santana having to interfere. Alfredo Nogueira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Walmyr Paiva having to make a save. After having played for 35 minutes, João Paulo Madureira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canaiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Paulo Madureira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When João Paulo Madureira came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Canaiba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Paulo Madureira couldn't finish the play. Walmyr Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Paulo Madureira in the 41st minute of play. Jardel Santana was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rafael Vale showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 42 minute of play. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canaiba's goalkeeper Jardel Santana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfredo Nogueira to strike the kick off in the second half. Jardel Santana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Vale's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Rafael Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Jardel Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edgard Rosado during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Canaiba's Edgard Rosado got a free kick in the 64th minute. If Rafael Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. João Paulo Madureira was shown his second yellow card after 76 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Canaiba getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. João Paulo Madureira hit a great ball. Jardel Santana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Machado in the 78th minute of the match. Rafael Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Jardel Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredo Nogueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgard Rosado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Paiva having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Alfredo Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canaiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Nogueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Paulista F.C.'s zone, Alfredo Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmyr Paiva came out of the goal and Alfredo Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Vale's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jardel Santana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Fausto Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
