The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marcelinho Urbano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 16 minutes into the match, MARMANDUKE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Eduardo Marquez came free, but Hamílton Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelinho Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Hamílton Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Guanandi booed when MARMANDUKE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Marquez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hamílton Motta came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Eduardo Marquez slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. Hamílton Motta made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Marcelinho Urbano sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th minute, Guanandi's Marcelinho Urbano dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Marcelinho Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamílton Motta having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Carlos Eduardo Marquez made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Eduardo Marquez might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hamílton Motta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
