After 16 played minutes, Imortal Tricolor FC's Kaká Brasil shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Romário Dias came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Imortal Tricolor FC reached it. If João Paulo das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fábio Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Romário Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romário Dias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fábio Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Jeremias de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Hamílton de Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hílton Sena took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hamílton de Godoi. Hamílton de Godoi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Hílton Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Imortal Tricolor FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Botafogo F. R. were winning 0-1.

A collision led to Imortal Tricolor FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Dedê Borges hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Botafogo F. R.'s Jeremias de Castro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hamílton de Godoi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Hílton Sena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Romário Dias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fábio Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, João Paulo das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imortal Tricolor FC's supporters rose to their feet, but João Paulo das Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romário Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romário Dias came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Imortal Tricolor FC's João Paulo das Neves. But to his dismay, João Paulo das Neves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Botafogo F. R.'s goalkeeper Romário Dias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Afonso Arce charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Arce the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Afonso Arce hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 77th minute Hílton Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hamílton de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Paulo das Neves in the 78th minute of play forced Botafogo F. R.'s goalkeeper Romário Dias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, João Paulo das Neves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Imortal Tricolor FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Romário Dias came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Imortal Tricolor FC's Luiz Fábio Carvalho. But to his dismay, Luiz Fábio Carvalho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Romário Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. If Jeremias de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If João Paulo das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Imortal Tricolor FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Botafogo F. R. for a fine match.
