Spectators: 7174 (Terracing: 5414, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 100) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Flávio Guimarães took the kick off in the first half of the match. A collision led to Balancas getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Flávio Fernandez hit a great ball. Laércio Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandinho Moura in the 12th minute of play. After 15 played minutes, Balancas's Alfredo Meireles shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Laércio Queiroz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Balancas reached it. The supporters of Balancas booed when S.C.Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Farias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laércio Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Guimarães in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Valeriy Spivak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to S.C.Internacional getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Adriano Farias hit a great ball. S.C.Internacional's Laércio Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Albuquerque in the 24th minute of play. Laércio Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from César Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. When Adriano Farias fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.C.Internacional's protests and gave Adriano Farias a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Adriano Farias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 30 minutes, José Augusto de Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balancas's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Augusto de Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Glauco Zanette received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Deivid Varela came out and tried to block the shot, but Glauco Zanette slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, Glauco Zanette fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Deivid Varela came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by S.C.Internacional's Breno Guimarães. But to his dismay, Breno Guimarães quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Glauco Zanette made a kick off. Balancas's Fernandinho Moura pulled a muscle in his leg after 52 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Breno Guimarães hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Breno Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lúcio Vaz in the 63rd minute of play forced S.C.Internacional's goalkeeper Laércio Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Glauco Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.C.Internacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Glauco Zanette was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Deivid Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, S.C.Internacional's Laércio Queiroz got control of the ball when Flávio Guimarães tried to sneak it across the goal line. Balancas's Flávio Guimarães has a good shot, but didn't show it this time. The shot went over the crossbar in the 80th minute. Deivid Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glauco Zanette, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Walmyr da Mata, 90 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 92nd minute, Breno Guimarães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Balancas's goal looked a bit too open when Glauco Zanette came free, but Deivid Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, S.C.Internacional could leave the field as winners, despite Balancas having more of the ball for most of the match.
