Haroldo Bueno came out of the goal and Artur de Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot by Tony Valle from long distance, 22 minutes into the match, got Haroldo Bueno's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 25th minute, Artur de Carvalho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Haroldo Bueno. The goal made the score 1-1. A collision led to Mondahy EC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Váldson Moraes hit a great ball. Artur de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Haroldo Bueno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cabiuna's Fellipe Pirani got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Váldson Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Artur de Carvalho to strike the kick off in the second half. Haroldo Bueno stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Artur de Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Leonel Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caco Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fellipe Pirani's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Haroldo Bueno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Nilmar Rossi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Brasil having to interfere. When Fellipe Pirani came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Cabiuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fellipe Pirani couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Artur de Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Haroldo Bueno was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Leonel Brasil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Souza in the 95th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Mondahy EC's Caco Souza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
