After a rather tough play, Zathun FC's Cristóvão Bueno got a free kick in the 35th minute. If Giuseppe Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Zathun FC's goalkeeper Adrianinho Sabóia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Giuseppe Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Giuseppe Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Sabóia having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Serafim Jacinto charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 92nd match minute, Cruzeiro MG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovani Galvão to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro MG's zone, Leandro de Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adnan Baler came out of the goal and Leandro de Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
