The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marvao EC's Inácio do Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Marvao EC from getting a goal against them. After 13 minutes of play, Maracanazo's Rodrigo Linares made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Inácio do Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 18th minute Flavinho Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elano de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elano de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Araújo in the 21st minute of play. Luan Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio do Vale having to interfere. When Bruninho Leite fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maracanazo's protests and gave Bruninho Leite a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Maracanazo got a freekick which was hit by Bruninho Leite. Rodrigo Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Inácio do Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nilson Araújo might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elano de Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nilson Araújo ran back to his position shaking his head. Egídio Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Elano de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marvao EC. 39 minutes into the game, Luan Sampaio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maracanazo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marvao EC the free kick. 41 minutes into the match, Maracanazo's goal looked a bit too open when Nilson Araújo came free, but Elano de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flavinho Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Elano de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marvao EC. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Nilson Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marvao EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilson Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elano de Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Inácio do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Linares, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Flavinho Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Elano de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marvao EC. A hard shot 60 in the game by Nilson Araújo from a close distance when the talented Elano de Medeiros managed to make a qualified save. Maracanazo's players were relieved. Nilson Araújo took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elano de Medeiros. Elano de Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 81 minutes into the match, Rodrigo Linares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Inácio do Vale. Marvao EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodrigo Linares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Marvao EC's Flavinho Nogueira got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nilson Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Elano de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Inácio do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Linares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Maracanazo's Carlos Alberto da Mata got a free kick in the 95th minute. In the 96th minute, Flavinho Nogueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, Maracanazo could leave the field as winners, despite Marvao EC having more of the ball for most of the match.
