In the 7th minute, Caio Branco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sebastião Lucas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Diego Alagoano went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Wellington Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brusque SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wellington Mello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastião Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 19 played minutes Brusque SC got a freekick which was hit by Ademar da Fonseca. In the 28th minute, Gaúcho - RS's Aírton Paraibano ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Osvaldo Tepedino. Osvaldo Tepedino yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Brusque SC's Osvaldo Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 洪思义 in the 33rd minute of play. Reynaldo Donatello kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Gaúcho - RS's Zülfü Çağman got a free kick in the 34th minute. Aírton Paraibano's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Osvaldo Tepedino skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Osvaldo Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 洪思义, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The audience was convinced that Aírton Paraibano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osvaldo Tepedino was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. If Caio Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aírton Paraibano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 洪思义 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Osvaldo Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caio Branco, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After 65 minutes of play, Gaúcho - RS's Caio Branco made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Osvaldo Tepedino was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd minute Diego Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diego Alagoano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Sebastião Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caio Branco might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osvaldo Tepedino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Caio Branco ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Brusque SC booed when Gaúcho - RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Gaúcho - RS's 洪思义 nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Osvaldo Tepedino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. 88 minutes into the match, Brusque SC's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Paraibano came free, but Osvaldo Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
