Elder Quadros didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Sobradinho's Osvaldo Félix shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Luizão Fernandes didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 6th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. If Osvaldo Félix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 11th minute Osvaldo Félix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Quadros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Espirito Santo E. C.'s Elder Quadros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldo Félix in the 14th minute of play. Osvaldo Félix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sobradinho's goalkeeper Luizão Fernandes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Osvaldo Félix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 32 minutes into the game, Sobradinho's Falcão Fernandez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Elder Quadros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. After having played for 40 minutes, Falcão Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sobradinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Falcão Fernandez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Falcão Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elder Quadros having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

Emílio Pereira hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Elder Quadros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Félix in the 64th minute of play. After 69 minutes, Walmir Hermes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Espirito Santo E. C. and the Sobradinho players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sobradinho made a substitution. Isaltino Teixeira replaced Roberto Tinoco. When Juan Orixe came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Sobradinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Orixe couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Espirito Santo E. C.'s Walmir Hermes got a free kick in the 90th minute. An unexpected shot in the 95th minute by Falcão Fernandez got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Sobradinho played a much better game than Espirito Santo E. C. and deserved their victory. The Espirito Santo E. C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
