The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Comercial FC's zone, Zé Augusto Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horácio Mazza came out of the goal and Zé Augusto Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 19th minute, Cristiano Paraibano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Zé Augusto Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Guareta AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Augusto Alcântara couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Comercial FC booed when Guareta AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Augusto Alcântara scored 1-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Horácio Mazza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Horácio Mazza came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Guareta AD's Zé Augusto Alcântara. But to his dismay, Zé Augusto Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 38th minute, Cristiano Paraibano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kléberson Cardoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Guareta AD's zone, Cristiano Paraibano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléberson Cardoso came out of the goal and Cristiano Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 45 minutes, José Baiano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Comercial FC and the Guareta AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. 46 minutes into the match, Comercial FC's goalkeeper Horácio Mazza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teodoro Amaral. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jacinto Paes was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Guareta AD's Erik Pombal got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute of the match Inácio Silva shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kléberson Cardoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. José Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristiano Paraibano scored 2-2 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kléberson Cardoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. José Baiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléberson Cardoso having to interfere. Horácio Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 75th minute by Cristiano Paraibano got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 76th minute, Erik Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute Vitinho Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Cardoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Vitinho Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Paulo José Xavier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Horácio Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Comercial FC booed when Guareta AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo José Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Augusto Alcântara struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Horácio Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guareta AD. Comercial FC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Guareta AD to leave the ground with a draw.
