Nando Pernambucano came out of the goal and Basílio Mello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Atlético Atheneu FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Carmo SC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 19 minutes, Carmo SC's Severino Soeiro got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Allan Ramalho. Raimundo Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Allan Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Severino Soeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Severino Soeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 25 minutes into the game, one of Carmo SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
