In the 12th minute, Telmo Vargas sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Raiz FC's Luís Eduardo Fonseca didn't even have to move. Luís Eduardo Fonseca made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Luizinho Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. Massambara's Duda Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcinho Bastos in the 16th minute of play. Marcinho Bastos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duda Almeida having to interfere. The supporters of Raiz FC booed when Massambara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vítor Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Massambara's Duda Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Carlos Cavalcante in the 25th minute of play. Marcinho Bastos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Raiz FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. João Carlos Cavalcante hit a great ball. Marcinho Bastos struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Duda Almeida didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Raiz FC. If Angelo Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 36 minutes, Marcinho Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Raiz FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcinho Bastos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Massambara's zone, João Carlos Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duda Almeida came out of the goal and João Carlos Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcinho Bastos scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duda Almeida, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luizinho Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Luís Eduardo Fonseca made a huge save. Massambara's Cristiano Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Bruninho Prata fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Massambara's protests and gave Bruninho Prata a yellow card for diving instead. In the 48th match minute, Massambara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruninho Prata to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Raiz FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcinho Bastos to make the kick off. Marcinho Bastos took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Duda Almeida. Duda Almeida dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 64th minute, Marcinho Bastos made a precise shot to the right of Duda Almeida. Massambara's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Marcinho Bastos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duda Almeida having to interfere. Bruninho Prata got his second yellow card in the match during the 69th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 70 played minutes Massambara got a freekick which was hit by Bruninho Prata. After having played for 72 minutes, Marcinho Bastos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Raiz FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcinho Bastos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcinho Bastos got free with Duda Almeida in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 76th minute, Luizinho Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
