Róbson Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeu Cordeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. In the 12th match minute, birogoved was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu Cordeiro to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Angelo Chaves sped through birogoved's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Durvalino Marquez. A collision led to birogoved getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Romeu Cordeiro hit a great ball. Dorival Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durvalino Marquez having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Angelo Chaves in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Durvalino Marquez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. João Vítor Silveira hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute Angelo Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durvalino Marquez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. avante's Angelo Chaves got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Fábio Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durvalino Marquez having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in birogoved's zone, Dorival Alagoano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Durvalino Marquez came out of the goal and Dorival Alagoano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half avante were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angelo Chaves was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Angelo Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. avante's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelo Chaves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th minute, Angelo Chaves reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Durvalino Marquez. The goal made the score 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Dorival Alagoano managed to get in a good position for a shot. avante's supporters rose to their feet, but Dorival Alagoano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durvalino Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 66th match minute, avante was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Vítor Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Peixoto charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristian Peixoto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Luís Fábio Guedes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Durvalino Marquez, 0-3. 91 minutes into the match, Dorival Alagoano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Durvalino Marquez. birogoved's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dorival Alagoano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. When Luís Fábio Guedes came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the avante fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Fábio Guedes couldn't finish the play. The birogoved fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. avante were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
