When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Aníbal Capixaba sped through Varedao AD's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Júlio Madureira. Claudinei Aparecido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Júlio Madureira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Júlio Madureira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from André Luiz das Neves went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 14th minute Luiz Guilherme Falcão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Varedao AD's Enrique Vergílio got a free kick in the 15th minute. André Luiz das Neves might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Júlio Madureira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. André Luiz das Neves ran back to his position shaking his head. Rafinha Nunes hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After 28 played minutes, Chamas do Rio FC's André Luiz das Neves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Júlio Madureira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chamas do Rio FC reached it. Varedao AD were furious when Enrique Vergílio was red carded, 39 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of Varedao AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Chamas do Rio FC:s goal. José Moreno walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 44th minute Aníbal Capixaba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When André Luiz das Neves came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Chamas do Rio FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Luiz das Neves couldn't finish the play. Júlio Madureira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Moreno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute of the match, Aníbal Capixaba tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Júlio Madureira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, José Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chamas do Rio FC's supporters rose to their feet, but José Moreno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Madureira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Chamas do Rio FC's José Moreno slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Júlio Madureira. That made the score 0-4 after 61 minutes of play. Varedao AD's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when José Moreno scored to the left of an out of position Júlio Madureira, making the score, 0-5. The crowd rose to their feet as Aníbal Capixaba kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Júlio Madureira. That made the score 0-6 in the 71 minute of play. Chamas do Rio FC's Walmyr Félix was substituted for André Luiz das Neves. In the 77th match minute, Varedao AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gil Oliveira to maneuver through the defense. Silas Dias in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Júlio Madureira, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
