An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Donatello in the 17th minute of play forced Ibitiara AD's goalkeeper Cléberson da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Ibitiara AD's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Donatello came free, but Cléberson da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Edmílson Rosado came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Ibitiara AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmílson Rosado couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglas de Queirós got free with Hílton Paulista in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Teles to make the kick off.
