Simão Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emerson Dantas struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Luiz Paulo Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Sulista FC. After a defensive mix-up in Cacimbinhas SC's zone, Enrique Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Paulo Nogueira came out of the goal and Enrique Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Enrique Romero might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Paulo Nogueira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique Romero ran back to his position shaking his head. 46 minutes into the match, União Sulista FC's Ciro Sena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Paulo Nogueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Duarte Tande to strike the kick off in the second half. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Cacimbinhas SC's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Romero came free, but Luiz Paulo Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd match minute, União Sulista FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Romero to maneuver through the defense. After 67 played minutes Cacimbinhas SC got a freekick which was hit by Ademir Dias. 68 minutes into the match, Simão Magalhães had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Paulo Nogueira. Cacimbinhas SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Simão Magalhães was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0.
