In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Opa's goalkeeper Gilberto Barreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sandrinho Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Walmir Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Sandrinho Seco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gilberto Barreto. Opa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sandrinho Seco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Dadá Hoffmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dé Garcia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After 27 played minutes Opa got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Antunes. In the 28th minute of the match Rogério Damião sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilberto Barreto skillfully saved the ball. Guerreira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmir Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gilberto Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmir Abreu in the 45th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dadá Hoffmann was the one to do the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Sandrinho Seco kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilberto Barreto. That made the score 1-2 in the 51 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iuri Dionísio in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto Barreto saved Opa from getting behind. In the 56th match minute, Opa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurício Tinoco to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Guerreira's Walmir Abreu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilberto Barreto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 59 minutes into the match, Opa's goalkeeper Gilberto Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmir Abreu. Sandrinho Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Gilberto Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
