Spectators: 6652 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1652, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. João Adolfo Teles started the match with the kick off. Cosstana's Carlos Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Adolfo Teles in the 7th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Umberto Carneiro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Natanael Montenegro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 18 minutes into the game, Clóvis da Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Encruzilhada's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosstana the free kick. After 18 played minutes Encruzilhada got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis da Fonseca. Natanael Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Donatello in the 19th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jânio Berger got free with Carlos Arruda in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 23rd minute Encruzilhada were awarded a corner. Anderson Paraibano went to the cornerflag to take it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Paulo Ramos during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Encruzilhada booed when Cosstana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Paulo Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. When João Adolfo Teles came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Encruzilhada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Teles couldn't finish the play. Cosstana's Carlos Arruda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Cosstana from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Teles in the 32nd minute of play forced Cosstana's goalkeeper Carlos Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th match minute, Cosstana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Barreto to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ediberto Urbano during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Luiz Fernando Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Carlos Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd match minute, Cosstana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Paulo Ramos to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th minute Encruzilhada were awarded a corner. Anderson Paraibano went to the cornerflag to take it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manfredo Goiano during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Ediberto Urbano struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Natanael Montenegro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cosstana. Luiz Fernando Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Adolfo Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute Luiz Fernando Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Encruzilhada's Natanael Montenegro got control of the ball when Ediberto Urbano tried to sneak it across the goal line. João Adolfo Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, João Adolfo Teles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Encruzilhada's supporters rose to their feet, but João Adolfo Teles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Arruda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Teles in the 68th minute of play forced Cosstana's goalkeeper Carlos Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Natanael Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ediberto Urbano in the 82nd minute. Wilton Donatello had several of the Encruzilhada's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 85 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed Natanael Montenegro as he didn't even see the shot coming. Carlos Arruda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Botelho in the 89th minute of play. João Adolfo Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Arruda having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Encruzilhada fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cosstana had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
