Tião Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the game, Sananduva's Tião Pena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Basílio Jacinto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 16 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Itakami RJ FC! Sananduva's Tião Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tião Pena scored 0-3 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Basílio Jacinto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 30th minute Tião Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Jacinto Peres put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Enio Batista. Itakami RJ FC's Jacinto Peres got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Osvaldinho Ferraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Basílio Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Sananduva fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Sananduva's Tião Pena looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Sananduva were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldinho Ferraz to make the kick off. 64 minutes into the match, Itakami RJ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Ferraz came free, but Basílio Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sananduva's Tião Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Osvaldinho Ferraz got free in front of the goal in the 67th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Basílio Jacinto was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, Sananduva's Tião Pena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basílio Jacinto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Itakami RJ FC's Marcelo da Cunha got a free kick in the 69th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Sananduva's Renato Schmidt broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Basílio Jacinto made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Tião Pena sent off a good shot on target. Basílio Jacinto was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Osvaldinho Ferraz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Osvaldinho Ferraz really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. Jacinto Peres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute, Tião Pena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Basílio Jacinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Ferraz in the 84th minute of play. Basílio Jacinto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tião Pena in the 87th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tião Pena got free with Basílio Jacinto in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 96 minutes into the match, Tião Pena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Basílio Jacinto. Itakami RJ FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tião Pena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6.
