Spectators: 6654 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1654, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the game, Rubro Negro's Tomás Vianna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Júlio da Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Rômulo Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Brodel having to interfere. The long shot by Adriano Araújo in the 9th minute really tested Claudinei Brodel's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Zé Paulo Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Rubro Negro's Ernesto Simões got a free kick in the 19th minute. Claudinei Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo Furtado in the 24th minute of the match. Tião Alves's late challenge caught a Rubro Negro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tião Alves helped the player get up and apologised. In the 28th minute Zé Paulo Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Júlio da Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rubro Negro's goalkeeper Claudinei Brodel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Rubro Negro's zone, Rômulo Loyola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudinei Brodel came out of the goal and Rômulo Loyola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zé Paulo Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

After a rather tough play, Rubro Negro's Douglas Perez got a free kick in the 51st minute. Bateia SC's Zé Paulo Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 55 minutes into the match, Bateia SC's Léo Palmeira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Claudinei Brodel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, Bateia SC's goalkeeper Júlio da Fonseca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás Vianna. After a rather tough play, Rubro Negro's Zé Paulo Massa got a free kick in the 57th minute. Júlio da Fonseca made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Douglas Perez sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Rubro Negro booed when Bateia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tião Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute of the game Artur Madureira made a throw-in which Genílson Valladares played forward. Júlio da Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matías Diniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bateia SC's Júlio da Fonseca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Bateia SC from getting a goal against them. After 71 minutes, Dino Chaves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rubro Negro and the Bateia SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bateia SC's Júlio da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Simões in the 75th minute of play. A collision led to Bateia SC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Tião Alves hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, Bateia SC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Simões came free, but Júlio da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Léo Palmeira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudinei Brodel was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Douglas Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Júlio da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Léo Palmeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Douglas Perez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Júlio da Fonseca made a huge save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bateia SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Rubro Negro had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
