Spectators: 6667 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1667, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Agnaldo Sena started the match with the kick off. After 6 minutes Teresina FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Agnaldo Sena who took care of the corner kick. Botafogo MZRJ's Agnaldo Sena was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Flavinho Tande in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Pena in the 7th minute of play forced Botafogo MZRJ's goalkeeper Mané Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Botafogo MZRJ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Ricardo Couto hit a great ball. In the 25th minute of the match Osvaldinho Pena shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mané Santos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Ricardo Couto got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 30th minute, Tiago Gabriel Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute of the match Osvaldinho Pena sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mané Santos skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Laércio Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Teresina FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Laércio Mangueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mané Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Botafogo MZRJ getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Agenor Recife hit a great ball. Mané Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jânio de Lima in the 34th minute of play. Mané Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nildo de Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Botafogo MZRJ getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Gino Bueno hit a great ball. 42 minutes into the match, Teresina FC's Osvaldinho Pena broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 44 minutes of play, Teresina FC's Nildo de Mendonça made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mané Santos was left in no man's land by his defense there! The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Osvaldinho Pena to strike the kick off in the second half. Laércio Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mané Santos having to interfere. With a little luck, Botafogo MZRJ's Mané Santos got control of the ball when Osvaldinho Pena tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Teresina FC booed when Botafogo MZRJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gino Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agenor Recife to maneuver through the defense. Jânio de Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Mané Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Nildo de Mendonça fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Teresina FC's protests and gave Nildo de Mendonça a yellow card for diving instead. Gino Bueno was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 74 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Gino Bueno got a free kick in the 75th minute. Ricardo Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 86th minute, Teresina FC's Osvaldinho Pena ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mané Santos. Mané Santos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Agenor Recife got a free kick in the 89th minute. After 93 minutes, Osvaldinho Pena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Teresina FC and the Botafogo MZRJ players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 93 played minutes Teresina FC got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho Pena. Teresina FC played a much better game than Botafogo MZRJ and deserved their victory. The Botafogo MZRJ players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
