Itarana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cléberson Quintal ran over to the corner to take the kick. Baltazar Meirelles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesinha Pinho in the 43rd minute of the match. After taking down the ball on Itarana's corner Adrianinho Veiga fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Baltazar Meirelles quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Itarana getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Olívio Mattos hit a great ball. Baltazar Meirelles made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when José Paulo Quadros sent off a good shot on target. José Maranhense took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Albertinho Xavier. Albertinho Xavier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 81st minute of the match, José Paulo Quadros got a very nice opportunity to score, but Baltazar Meirelles was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesinha Pinho in the 82nd minute of play forced 13 DE MAIO F.C.'s goalkeeper Baltazar Meirelles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute, Telmo Leão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Albertinho Xavier was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. 13 DE MAIO F.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
