With his leg Nilmar Vander managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Florianópolis's Kenneth Blount fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 17th minute Mateus Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilmar Vander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mateus Lira got free with Nilmar Vander in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlos Alberto Pitta's late challenge caught a Florianópolis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardinho Fernandes took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nilmar Vander. Nilmar Vander dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Nilmar Vander made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Mateus Lira sent off a good shot on target. Alberto Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Lira in the 45th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kenneth Blount to make the kick off. Luiz Fabiano Varela's late challenge caught a Florianópolis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 66th minute, Edmundo Lira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alamari fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Edmundo Lira in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alberto Abreu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 70 minutes, Bernardinho Fernandes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Florianópolis and the Alamari players grew even worse after the yellow card.
