The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sérgio Meira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 2nd minute of the match, but Nilmar Leal made a huge save. When Hílton Eger fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaroquem's protests and gave Hílton Eger a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Itaroquem getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Hílton Eger hit a great ball. The supporters of Tibagy booed when Itaroquem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilmar Leal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Léo Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Joel de Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Tibagy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel de Carvalho couldn't finish the play. After 28 minutes, Benê Soares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tibagy and the Itaroquem players grew even worse after the yellow card. Léo Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tibagy's Nilmar Leal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léo Terra in the 31st minute of play. Sílvio Luís Trigo struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Sandrinho de Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tibagy. Sílvio Luís Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Léo Terra to strike the kick off in the second half. If Sérgio Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 56 in the game by Sílvio Luís Trigo from a close distance when the talented Sandrinho de Godoi managed to make a qualified save. Itaroquem's players were relieved. Sandrinho de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel de Carvalho in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th match minute, Itaroquem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sérgio Meira to maneuver through the defense. Itaroquem's Sandrinho de Godoi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Itaroquem from getting a goal against them. Arnaldo Saldanha received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Sandrinho de Godoi came out and tried to block the shot, but Arnaldo Saldanha slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 64th minute. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itaroquem's goalkeeper Sandrinho de Godoi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sandrinho de Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel de Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 77 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Joel de Carvalho sped through Itaroquem's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sandrinho de Godoi. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Joel de Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tibagy's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel de Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sandrinho de Godoi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd minute of the match, Sílvio Luís Trigo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sandrinho de Godoi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Tibagy's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel de Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
