Sidnei Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Cerrado Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Felippe Pinho hit a great ball. Cerrado Esporte Clube's Iuri Seco got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sidnei Araújo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ezequiel Matos's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Matos in the 40th minute of play forced Pumas's goalkeeper Sidnei Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sérgio de Mendonça during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Pumas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cerrado Esporte Clube the free kick. Sidnei Araújo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sidnei Araújo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Iuri Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sidnei Araújo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ezequiel Matos's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Cerrado Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iuri Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cerrado Esporte Clube's Ezequiel Matos got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute, Dé Chaves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cerrado Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Cerrado Esporte Clube had played much better football throughout.
