The crowd rose to their feet as XV de Jaú's Nelsinho Schmidt slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sílvio Luís Gaúcho. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. Sílvio Luís Gaúcho made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Nelsinho Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelsinho Schmidt in the 31st minute of play forced Joinville City United's goalkeeper Sílvio Luís Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, XV de Jaú's goal looked a bit too open when Engelbert Pofahl came free, but Maurinho Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Arlindo Ramos in the 40th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by XV de Jaú's Aluísio de Queiroz.

The wind increased when Cristóvão Saraiva made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristóvão Saraiva got free with Maurinho Nogueira in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Engelbert Pofahl's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Maurinho Nogueira on his right side and into the goal. 59 minutes into the game it was 2-2. In the 66th minute, Clóvis Massa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of XV de Jaú booed when Joinville City United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute, Cristóvão Saraiva left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
