After a rather tough play, SPORT ERN's Juarês Alves got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 22nd minute, Luís Fábio Machado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SPORT ERN's Manfredo Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Percy Penha in the 27th minute of play. SPORT ERN's Edgard Santos suffered a concussion in the 32nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nando Loyola in the 41st minute of play forced Alfenense Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Jorge Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Vítor Vargas hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nando Loyola was the one to do the kick off. Nando Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Amorim having to interfere. In the 86th minute Nando Loyola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SPORT ERN's João Vítor Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, João Vítor Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SPORT ERN's supporters rose to their feet, but João Vítor Vargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
