Flamengo's Betinho Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulisses Sena in the 10th minute of play. Betinho Passos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulisses Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 15th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jardel Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute of the match Dudu Furtado shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Betinho Passos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half INTERNACIONAL S.R were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ulisses Sena was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulisses Sena in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Betinho Passos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 53rd minute, Ian Madureira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Betinho Passos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Betinho Passos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ulisses Sena's shot from short distance in the 56th minute.
