Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Geovânio Fernandes got the match started through his kick off. When Franklin Cavalcante came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Democrata SL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franklin Cavalcante couldn't finish the play. BOTAFOGO's Geovânio Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Democrata SL's zone, Jeferson Marinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Guilherme Tepedino came out of the goal and Jeferson Marinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeferson Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Luís Guilherme Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, BOTAFOGO's Geovânio Fernandes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Guilherme Tepedino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In a very dangerous position, a player in Democrata SL fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 17th minute. Penalty! Luís Guilherme Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovânio Fernandes in the 24th minute of play. Dorian de Brito hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Luís Paulo Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdo Prestes made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Franklin Cavalcante sent off a good shot on target.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Paulo Teixeira to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Geovânio Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Guilherme Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, BOTAFOGO's Eduardo de Sena got a free kick in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Cavalcante in the 56th minute of play forced BOTAFOGO's goalkeeper Valdo Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Paulo Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdo Prestes having to interfere. BOTAFOGO's Tony Mendonça shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 61st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Luís Guilherme Tepedino but with some difficulty. If Eduardo de Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 65 minutes, Luís Paulo Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Democrata SL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Jeferson Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Geovânio Fernandes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Guilherme Tepedino was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vladimir Azevedo during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
