In the 5th minute of the match Lucas Lucas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oséas Guedes skillfully saved the ball. In the 8th match minute, Fonceca FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osmar Neiva to maneuver through the defense. After 11 minutes, César Trigo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the XV de Julho and the Fonceca FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Fonceca FC booed when XV de Julho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. César Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute Cristian Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. XV de Julho's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Humberto Barral in the 23rd minute. After taking down the ball on XV de Julho's corner Humberto Barral fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cláudio Santos quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Moreira in the 33rd minute of play forced Fonceca FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Enio Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fonceca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Enio Braga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oséas Guedes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to XV de Julho getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Nildo Severo hit a great ball. Cláudio Santos came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by XV de Julho's Nildo Severo. But to his dismay, Nildo Severo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nildo Severo to strike the kick off in the second half. César Trigo was shown his second yellow card after 55 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. César Trigo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robinho Toledo in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oséas Guedes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th minute Robinho Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oséas Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albertino Zonta charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Albertino Zonta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cláudio Santos acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 68th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Humberto Barral. When Alberto Botelho fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fonceca FC's protests and gave Alberto Botelho a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of XV de Julho booed when Fonceca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the XV de Julho defense, Enio Braga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oséas Guedes. The XV de Julho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oséas Guedes should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Fonceca FC's Enio Braga got a free kick in the 75th minute. Oséas Guedes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enio Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
