The audience was convinced that Alberto Vergílio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dorian Britto was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. When Doni da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Aranau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni da Costa couldn't finish the play. Gustavo Tinoco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When Osvaldo Saraiva fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Betim's protests and gave Osvaldo Saraiva a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28thth minute of the game Alberto Vergílio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Betim's Dorian Britto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roberto Prata during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th minute, Roberto Prata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the match, Aranau's goal looked a bit too open when Toninho Gerber came free, but Gustavo Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for João Pedro Moreno to strike the kick off in the second half. Gustavo Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pedro Moreno in the 53rd minute of the match. The supporters of Betim booed when Aranau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doni da Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Betim's protests and gave Frédson de Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. During the 75th minute of the match Frédson de Alcântara completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Frédson de Alcântara a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Frédson de Alcântara hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Dalmo de Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. When Richard Mangueira came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Aranau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Mangueira couldn't finish the play. Aranau's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when João Pedro Moreno scored to the left of an out of position Gustavo Tinoco, making the score, 0-4.
