After 2 played minutes Jardim Itu FC got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Ortiz. 13 minutes into the match, Virgílio Paraíba had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Walmir Cavalcante. Jardim Itu FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Virgílio Paraíba was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Carlos Alberto França managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jardim Itu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Alberto França was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aleandro Koehler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Jardim Itu FC booed when Urucum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Gaspar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walmir Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio de Sena in the 21st minute of play. When Afonsinho Guimarães fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Urucum's protests and gave Afonsinho Guimarães a yellow card for diving instead. 29 minutes into the game, one of Urucum:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 35 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto França cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Aleandro Koehler was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Rogério Sá made the kick off in the second half. In the 54thth minute of the game Rogério Sá who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Urucum's Aleandro Koehler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Caetano Medeiros fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Urucum's protests and gave Caetano Medeiros a yellow card for diving instead. Walmir Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Paraíba in the 58th minute of play. Aleandro Koehler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogério Sá, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgílio Paraíba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Cavalcante having to interfere. In the 77th minute, Carlos Alberto França ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aleandro Koehler was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Carlos Alberto França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wellington Prado's late challenge caught a Urucum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wellington Prado helped the player get up and apologised. The audience held their breath when Jaime Gaspar in the 86th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Walmir Cavalcante's left hand side. Cássio de Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Cavalcante having to interfere. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jardim Itu FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Magno da Silveira was slow to take the kick. During this time Urucum's players had a chance to rest.
