Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Renato Varela in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Inácio de Queirós prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When santos's Paulo Renato Varela in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gallinhos SC's goalie prevented a goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Gallinhos SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of santos:s goal. Vito Porto shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Inácio de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for santos. Inácio de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Renato Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Inácio de Queirós managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when santos's Pedrinho Loyola fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 44th minute, santos's Paulo Renato Varela dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo Renato Varela to make the kick off. Paulo Renato Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio de Queirós having to interfere. Gallinhos SC's Inácio de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Loyola in the 79th minute of play. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. santos fully deserved thier win.
