Alonzo Rivero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 36th minute of the match Walmir Trigo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egídio Lopes skillfully saved the ball. Egídio Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Chaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Nestor Donio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Bittencourt in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Uriel De Paula left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phoenix fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. Nestor Donio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falcão Abraão, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Afonsinho Britto hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Nestor Donio came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Phoenix's Sérgio Bittencourt. But to his dismay, Sérgio Bittencourt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. The supporters of Phoenix booed when São Paulo Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uriel De Paula took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nestor Donio. São Paulo Futebol Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 64th minute Sérgio Bittencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Donio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Abraão came free, but Nestor Donio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9-0 became the score in the 69th minute when Sérgio Bittencourt elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Nestor Donio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Bittencourt in the 86th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's Alonzo Rivero sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Egídio Lopes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 96 minutes into the game, São Paulo Futebol Clube's Alonzo Rivero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Egídio Lopes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 12-1. There was no doubt that Phoenix were the better team.
