Baltazar Cearense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Egídio Lopes having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Phoenix's Afonsinho Britto got a free kick in the 27th minute. Hortêncio Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Acácio França in the 31st minute of the match. Sérgio Bittencourt did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Hortêncio Maia 31 minutes into the match. With his leg Hortêncio Maia managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Phoenix's Uriel De Paula fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the match, Ananindeua's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Abraão came free, but Hortêncio Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute Falcão Abraão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Uriel De Paula was extremely unlucky when he, in the 45th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Abraão in the 47th minute of play forced Ananindeua's goalkeeper Hortêncio Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Hortêncio Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Ananindeua defense, Afonsinho Britto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hortêncio Maia. The Ananindeua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hortêncio Maia should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Ananindeua's Hudson Tinoco got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68thth minute of the game Sérgio Bittencourt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ananindeua's Hortêncio Maia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Róbson Arósio hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Baltazar Cearense charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baltazar Cearense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Phoenix's Egídio Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baltazar Cearense in the 78th minute of play. Hortêncio Maia was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Phoenix fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ananindeua had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
