In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barrigada's goalkeeper Antônio Favoretto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Barrigada's Fábio Coelho got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank de Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fábio Coelho in the 26th minute of the match. Antônio Favoretto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Digo do Valle in the 27th minute of the match. Frank de Amaral came out of the goal and Duarte Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Digo do Valle to make the kick off. Fábio Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank de Amaral having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fábio Coelho got free with Frank de Amaral in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Antônio Favoretto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Digo do Valle in the 59th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Digo do Valle notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Barrigada's Antônio Favoretto. Antônio Favoretto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Duarte Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fábio Coelho struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Frank de Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barrigada. After having played for 69 minutes, Duarte Botelho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barrigada's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte Botelho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot by Luizinho Freitas from long distance, 72 minutes into the match, got Frank de Amaral's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 75 minutes into the match, Gurijuba's goalkeeper Frank de Amaral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fábio Coelho. In the 79th match minute, Gurijuba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fábio Novaes to maneuver through the defense. When Duarte Botelho came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Barrigada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duarte Botelho couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deivid Pirani in the 84th minute of play forced Barrigada's goalkeeper Antônio Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fábio Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Coelho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Frank de Amaral made a huge save. After having played for 97 minutes, Fábio Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barrigada's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fábio Coelho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barrigada played a much better game than Gurijuba and deserved their victory. The Gurijuba players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
