The referee ignored Conceicas SC's protests and gave Armando de Sena a yellow card for diving instead. Armando de Sena hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Dinei Macedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ediberto Lago was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Benê Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Lago having to interfere. Elói Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Elói Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Piacaba's Kléberson Palmeira got control of the ball when Ricardinho Siqueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kléberson Palmeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elói Cardoso in the 36th minute of the match. If Dinei Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elói Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kléberson Palmeira having to make a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dinei Macedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ediberto Lago acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 52nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Hudson Aguiar. A hard shot 54 in the game by Benê Capixaba from a close distance when the talented Ediberto Lago managed to make a qualified save. Conceicas SC's players were relieved. In the 58th minute, Ricardinho Siqueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Elói Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Conceicas SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elói Cardoso couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Piacaba's goalkeeper Kléberson Palmeira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 64 minutes into the match, Piacaba's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardinho Siqueira came free, but Kléberson Palmeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dinei Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Lago having to interfere. 71 minutes into the game, Benê Capixaba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ediberto Lago was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 76 minutes of play, Piacaba's Benê Capixaba made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ediberto Lago was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Macedo in the 82nd minute of play forced Conceicas SC's goalkeeper Ediberto Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 85 played minutes Conceicas SC got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Linhares. Romeu de Amorim took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ediberto Lago. Conceicas SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Ricardinho Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ediberto Lago showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dinei Macedo in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute Elói Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Piacaba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
