Roberto do Valle charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roberto do Valle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 minutes, Agostinho Ferreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Calisto EC and the Arrombadores Sport Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Ademir de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calisto EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ademir de Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabiano Donato breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ademir de Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Fabiano Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ernani dos Santos might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Válter Fernandes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernani dos Santos ran back to his position shaking his head. Percy Moura's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabiano Donato read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 31stth minute of the game Percy Moura who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arrombadores Sport Club's Fabiano Donato was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fabiano Donato stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ademir de Almeida's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Armandinho Linares hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Fabiano Donato showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir de Almeida in the 36th minute of the match. Válter Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernani dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. If Percy Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ernani dos Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Ademir de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Arrombadores Sport Club booed when Calisto EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Calisto EC's Válter Fernandes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernani dos Santos in the 81st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Dedê Vieira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arrombadores Sport Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedê Vieira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Válter Fernandes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Sabóia in the 87th minute of play forced Calisto EC's goalkeeper Válter Fernandes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Calisto EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
