INTER DE MILÃO's Jerônimo Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caio Quaresma in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Diniz in the 6th minute of play forced INTER DE MILÃO's goalkeeper Jerônimo Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 8 minutes, Pedrinho Diniz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maringá's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrinho Diniz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gonçalo Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Jerônimo Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Caio Quaresma ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jerônimo Machado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Pedrinho Diniz came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Maringá fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedrinho Diniz couldn't finish the play. Jerônimo Machado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gonçalo Romero's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. If Gonçalo Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedrinho Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedrinho Diniz to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Gonçalo Romero's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jerônimo Machado was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Pedrinho Dinizs short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Jerônimo Machado to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Maringá's Luisinho Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pedrinho Diniz might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerônimo Machado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedrinho Diniz ran back to his position shaking his head. Maringá's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
