Mandacaia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Conrado Pimenta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. A collision led to Mandacaia getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Isaltino Fernandes hit a great ball. Mandacaia's Egídio de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginaldo Neiva in the 46th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enéas Leão couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Cacá Costa made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Mandacaia's zone, Dagoberto Novaes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egídio de Andrade came out of the goal and Dagoberto Novaes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dagoberto Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Reginaldo Neiva came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Butanta SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reginaldo Neiva couldn't finish the play.
