Durvalino Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cacá Costa in the 3rd minute of the match. The supporters of Espinha FC booed when Mandacaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cacá Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonathan Azevedo during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Espinha FC's Durvalino Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cacá Costa in the 13th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, José Pereira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egídio de Andrade. Mandacaia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Pereira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Enéas Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Durvalino Salgado made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Enéas Leão sent off a good shot on target. After 25 played minutes Mandacaia got a freekick which was hit by Benedito Koehler. In the 26th minute, Enéas Leão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Durvalino Salgado was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 29th match minute, Espinha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeferson Penha to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Mandacaia booed when Espinha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Mandacaia's Isaltino Fernandes tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Enéas Leão managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mandacaia's supporters rose to their feet, but Enéas Leão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durvalino Salgado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 36th minute, Cacá Costa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Durvalino Salgado. The goal made the score 2-1. Espinha FC's Durvalino Salgado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Espinha FC from getting a goal against them. Enéas Leão was extremely unlucky when he, in the 44th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 48 minutes into the match, Espinha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cacá Costa came free, but Durvalino Salgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Pereira to make the kick off. After 57 minutes of play, Mandacaia's Cacá Costa made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Durvalino Salgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! Durvalino Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Mandacaia fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Mandacaia's Enéas Leão looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 69 minutes, José Pereira made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Mandacaia's Egídio de Andrade tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Enéas Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durvalino Salgado having to interfere. In the 86th minute Cacá Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durvalino Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Enéas Leão came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Mandacaia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enéas Leão couldn't finish the play. Cacá Costa succeeded in the game's 96th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 5-3. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mandacaia fans cheered their team off the field, for while Espinha FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
