Luizão Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After having played for 7 minutes, Fernando da Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Botafogo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando da Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Michel Vander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Botafogo's Gernando Pena in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Campo Velho Da Maderite's goalie prevented a goal. 18 minutes into the match, Campo Velho Da Maderite's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando da Cunha came free, but João Fantini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Isidoro Gazmuri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hernani Vieira having to interfere. Hernani Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Cage in the 24th minute of the match. Gernando Pena took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Fantini. João Fantini dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 36 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Cage came free, but Hernani Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Isidoro Gazmuri came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Campo Velho Da Maderite fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isidoro Gazmuri couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute, Nicolas Cage ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hernani Vieira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fernando da Cunha to strike the kick off in the second half. Gernando Penas short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got João Fantini to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Botafogo's Hernani Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean de Barros in the 57th minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, Nicolas Cage cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Hernani Vieira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Michel Vander came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Campo Velho Da Maderite fans jumped to their feet. Nicolas Cage blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hernani Vieira having to make a save. After some careless play in the Botafogo defense, Michel Vander kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hernani Vieira. The Botafogo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hernani Vieira should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Botafogo booed when Campo Velho Da Maderite was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedê Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Gernando Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo's supporters rose to their feet, but Gernando Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Fantini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Campo Velho Da Maderite made a substitution. Pedro Luiz Peixoto replaced Isidoro Gazmuri. The supporters of Botafogo booed when Campo Velho Da Maderite was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Fantini came out and tried to block the shot, but Fernando da Cunha slotted it home off the left post making it 4-2 in the 81st minute. Campo Velho Da Maderite's Cipriano Azevedo was substituted for Michel Vander. After 89 minutes of play, Campo Velho Da Maderite's Nicolas Cage made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hernani Vieira was left in no man's land by his defense there! With 94 minutes on the clock, Maurício Ribeiro commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 93rd minute, one of Campo Velho Da Maderite:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Campo Velho Da Maderite. The goalkeeper, João Fantini, was totally fooled by Botafogo's Jonas Saldanha, who 96 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the referee ended the match the Campo Velho Da Maderite players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
