Clemente Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jarbas Quirino in the 27th minute of the match. After 28 minutes, Miguel Dias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mataripe SS and the Guriri players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 33rdth minute of the game Elano Leite who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guriri's Clemente Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mataripe SS's Elano Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elano Leite in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clemente Tavares saved Guriri from getting behind. In the 38thth minute of the game Elano do Vale who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guriri's Clemente Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elano do Vale in the 40th minute of play forced Guriri's goalkeeper Clemente Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Nilton Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guriri's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilton Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Mataripe SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After the first half Mataripe SS were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elano Leite was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, Jairo Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guriri's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Magalhães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 54 minutes into the game, Jarbas Quirino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clemente Tavares had in the 62ndth minute some difficulties stopping Leonardo Quadros's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 65thth minute of the game Elano Leite who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guriri's Clemente Tavares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Clemente Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elano Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Guriri's goalkeeper Clemente Tavares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elano do Vale.
