The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paulo José Penha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 3rdth minute, Manfredo Baptista skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Manfredo Baptista stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marian Bator's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 6th match minute, Correntezas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thiago Vander to maneuver through the defense. Marian Bator hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After having played for 9 minutes, Paulo José Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vale do Aço Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo José Penha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Paulo José Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Correntezas getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Thiago Vander hit a great ball. In the 15th match minute, Correntezas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thiago Vander to maneuver through the defense. Rodolfo da Mata kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Haroldo Vianna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marian Bator got free with Manfredo Baptista in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 24th minute Thiago Vander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dênis Cardozo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Manfredo Baptista successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dênis Cardozo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Correntezas's goalkeeper Manfredo Baptista had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo José Penha. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thiago Vander during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 39 played minutes Correntezas got a freekick which was hit by Thiago Vander. If Marian Bator had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo José Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Tomás Linhares fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Correntezas's protests and gave Tomás Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Correntezas getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Tomás Linhares hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Rubinho Silva made the kick off in the second half. Thiago Vander kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Paulo José Penha took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manfredo Baptista. Manfredo Baptista dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Paulo José Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Manfredo Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Correntezas's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo José Penha came free, but Manfredo Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 59 minutes, Marian Bator managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Marian Bator had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manfredo Baptista. Correntezas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marian Bator was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Marian Bator struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. If Nunez Panfilo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Paulo José Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulo José Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfredo Baptista having to interfere. Dênis Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubinho Silva in the 83rd minute of the match. Paulo José Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marian Bator in the 91st minute of play forced Correntezas's goalkeeper Manfredo Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Vale do Aço Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Rubinho Silva came free, but Dênis Cardozo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vale do Aço Esporte Clube walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
