With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oscar Lima prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joa EC's Oscar Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Egídio Vale in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Sanna AD's goalkeeper Edmundo de Carvalho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dagoberto Carvalho. In the 31st minute Dito Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dagoberto Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmundo de Carvalho having to interfere. With a little luck, Sanna AD's Edmundo de Carvalho got control of the ball when Dagoberto Carvalho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sanna AD's Egídio Vale got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Chiquinho Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Vale to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Chiquinho Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Joa EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Chiquinho Marinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. One of Joa EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sanna AD:s goal. Edmundo de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dito Valadares, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. When Raúl Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Sanna AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raúl Rocha couldn't finish the play. In the 70th minute Egídio Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dito Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Giovanni de Godoi hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. After 83 minutes, Enéas Nunes mouthed his way into the referee's book. Edmundo de Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagoberto Carvalho in the 96th minute of the match. Adilson Saldanha was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 99th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
