They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dieguinho Montenegro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Patrick Donatello cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Léo Ortiz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marinete's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester United the free kick. After having played for 63 minutes, Telmo Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Telmo Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Marinete's Dieguinho Montenegro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nildo Mesquita. That made the score 1-3 after 65 minutes of play. Nildo Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dieguinho Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute, Dieguinho Montenegro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nildo Mesquita. The goal made the score 1-4. Dieguinho Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. André Luís de Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed André Luís de Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Manchester United! Inácio Brittos short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Nildo Mesquita to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Inácio Britto might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nildo Mesquita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inácio Britto ran back to his position shaking his head. Marinete's Tiago Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marinete's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
