In the 38th minute Dalmo Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dalmo Alcântara in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oscar Lara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 42 minutes into the match, Norberto Furtado notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Esporte Clube Bahia's Oscar Lara. Oscar Lara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Wágner Bastos made the kick off in the second half.
